Introduction of dolomite bricks

The dolomite bricks, is a kind of magnesial refractory material with periclase as principal crystalline phase and tricalcium silicate as secondary phase. It contains 80 % ~ 87% MgO, 6 % ~ 9% CaO, CaO/SiO2 ratio is between 2.2 ~ 3.0. Its significant structural feature is periclase directly contact with dicalcium silicate and tricalcium silicate, making eutectic solution-4 Cao-Al2O3-Fe2O3 fill into crystal gap between dicalcium silicate and tricalcium silicate. Its porosity is low, the refractoriness under load is higher than 1700 ℃. It has good alkaline slag resistance ability, but with poor thermal shock resistance.

Made by calcium magnesia sand as refractory raw material, it will be made by firing at 1550~1600 ℃ after crushing, burdening, mixing and molding. It will be used at eye place of side-blown converter, top place of open-hearth furnace and oxygen-blown converter etc.

Magnesia-calcium brick has seven properties: High temperature resistance, slag resistance, spalling resistance, wear resistance, purifying molten steel and hydration resistance performance.

Common problems that arise during the use of ladle

(1) It is often encountered to replace the ladle caused by argon blowing. Replacing the ladle will not only delay the smelting time, but also the process of replacing the ladle will bring safety problems, and it will cause the molten steel to take in air and bring in some inclusions during the process of changing the ladle. Inclusions increase the difficulty of smelting and increase the cost of smelting.

(2) The slag line is seriously eroded, and the slag line usage rate is low. Frequent replacement of the slag line will increase smelting costs, and it is also not conducive to the normal operation of smelting, prone to leakage of molten steel, which brings certain hidden dangers to production.

(3)The ladle brick is short in service life and needs to be replaced frequently.

Ways to improve the life of RH furnace lining

1.Different steel grades, such as ultra-low carbon steel and low carbon steel, have different refining processes and conditions, and the requirements for refractory materials of furnace lining are also different. It is recommended that steel mills concentrate different steel grades in different furnaces in order to select the appropriate refractory material according to the refined steel grade.

2.The corrosion mechanism of different parts of the RH furnace is different. Therefore, the appropriate refractory raw material should be selected according to the specific conditions of different parts during refining, and the integrated furnace should be carried out.

3.Control the refining temperature, do not exceed 1650 °C.

4.Improve the use efficiency of the RH refining furnace, increase the daily refining furnace times, shorten the intermittent time, and adopt insulation measures during the interval to reduce the temperature fluctuation in the furnace.
5.Monitor the erosion of the dip tube and perform spray repair during the rest period between the two furnaces. Increasing the life of the dip tube and reducing the number of times the dip tube is replaced can reduce the structural spalling caused by the large temperature fluctuation in the lower part of the vacuum chamber.
6.When replacing the dip tube, the lower part of the vacuum chamber, the bottom of the furnace, the throat and other parts can be sprayed and repaired immediately, or the ramming material can be filled in the throat to be repaired.
